Are you the type to do your homework prior to hiring a company to do a job for you? If so, then I’m sure you’ve seen a few websites with the “no deposit upfront” ploy. Having been in the auto transportation industry for over seven years, there are quite a few broker schemes that trickle my trailer, but none are even remotely close to the nonsense “no deposit” approach praised by nearly 90% of the industry. Let me explain this from two pints of view. The customer and the service provider.
No deposit down? Oh boy! I’m excited… 2 weeks later you will be kicking yourself.
From the customers view point, hearing the words “no deposit” is a wonderful thing because they relate to it as “no payment”. People in general love free things and sometimes get carried away with this thought process. I can guarantee that over the past 5 years I’ve lost nearly 20% of my incoming clientele once they learned they have to pay upfront for my auto transport brokerage services.
As an auto transport broker, I can give you justification as to why an upfront fee is the proper formality and the better way to go. Don’t get me wrong, there are a handful of solid auto transport brokers that don’t charge a deposit upfront but I can assure you that the vast majority are crooks. Hear me out on this. For one, we are service providers! I could speak to one hundred people a week and tell every one of them I could move their vehicle, but without a signed contract and payment, I have no liability. This is the reason most brokers prefer not taking a deposit from you, there is no contract. No legal binding. And at the end of the day, no responsibility.

Stick with a reasonable price and use common reasoning. If it’s too cheap, its not going to happen. Brokers don’t regulate the market, truckers do. Autos On The Go will quote you accordingly in such a way that your vehicle will be get picked up and delivered. I will need a payment, in most cases, of $175 to complete your booking. After that, you have my word your vehicle will be picked up and delivered.
