Lucid Air Shipping Built Around Precision & Protection

Transporting a Lucid Air is not the same as shipping a standard sedan—and treating it like one is where most companies get it wrong.

At Autos On The Go, we approach Lucid transport with a very specific understanding of the vehicle’s weight distribution, low ground clearance, and manufacturer-recommended securement points.

The Lucid Air typically weighs between 4,560 – 5,200 lbs depending on trim (Pure, Touring, Grand Touring, Sapphire). That weight is concentrated low due to the battery pack, which is great for driving—but requires intentional loading and tie-down strategy during transport.

Proper Tie-Down Methods (No Guesswork)

The Lucid Air should never be secured by suspension components, brake lines, or improvised frame points.

Instead, we instruct carriers to use one of two proper methods:

1. Soft Strap Wheel Securement (Preferred)

  • ULINE soft straps or equivalent are placed over the tires
  • Vehicle is secured at all four wheels
  • Eliminates stress on suspension and underbody components
  • Ideal for high-end EVs like Lucid

2. Manufacturer-Approved T-Hook Points

  • Only used if explicitly aligned with Lucid’s designated anchor points
  • Requires galvanized T-hooks inserted correctly into factory slots
  • No guessing—misplacement can cause underbody damage

Most inexperienced carriers default to whatever is fastest. We don’t allow that.

We don’t price-race to the bottom — we focus on reliability, vetted carriers, and precision execution.

Loading Considerations: Width & Trailer Type

Enclosed Lucid Auto Transport (Recommended)

For most Lucid owners, enclosed transport is the preferred option.

  • Protection from weather, road debris, and dust
  • Ideal for brand-new vehicles, show cars, and high-value trims
  • Soft-strap tie-downs and lift-gate loading available
  • Fewer vehicles per trailer = less handling risk

The Lucid Air is approximately 76.3 inches wide, which puts it on the wider end for sedans.

That matters more than most people realize.

Why We Prefer Low-Rail Double Deck Trailers:

  • More lateral clearance when opening doors and positioning straps
  • Lower loading angles, reducing risk to the front splitter
  • Easier alignment for wide, low-profile vehicles

Why High-Rail Trailers Can Be Riskier:

  • Tighter side clearance
  • Increased chance of rim contact or door interference
  • Less forgiving for precise placement

For Lucid shipments, we actively prioritize carriers running low-rail setups whenever possible—especially for enclosed or high-end moves.

We’ll help you decide which option makes sense based on distance, timing, budget, and vehicle condition.

Vehicle Prep: Neutral Mode & Alarm Settings

This is one of the most overlooked parts of EV transport.

The Lucid Air should be placed in Transport Mode / Neutral

  • Allows the vehicle to roll freely during loading/unloading
  • Prevents resistance from regenerative braking systems
  • Reduces strain on drivetrain components

We Strongly Recommend Toggle off Shock & Tilt Alert

During long-distance transport:

  • Trailers experience constant vibration and motion
  • Sensitive EV alarm systems can trigger repeatedly
  • This can drain the battery and create unnecessary complications mid-transit

A properly prepped vehicle = a smooth, uneventful delivery.

This isn’t theoretical knowledge — it’s earned through thousands of successful luxury vehicle shipments.

Ground Clearance & Loading Strategy

The Lucid Air sits low—especially in certain drive modes.

We account for this by:

  • Using extended race ramps or hydraulic liftgates when needed
  • Avoiding steep-angle loading entirely
  • Adjusting trailer positioning before loading—not during

This is where experience shows. A rushed load is where damage happens.

Whether you’re shipping a Lucid from California to FloridaTexas to New York, or anywhere in between — we’ve done it.

Why Experience Matters with Lucid Transport

Most brokers will never mention any of this.

Because most have never actually handled high-end EV transport at scale.

We have.

Since 2008, Autos On The Go has coordinated thousands of specialty vehicle shipments, and as EVs like Tesla Model Y and Lucid become more common, the margin for error gets smaller—not larger.

This is not just “car shipping.”

It’s precision logistics for high-value electric vehicles.

We don’t overpromise — we deliver consistently.
