There are plenty of ways to ship a Tesla Model X from Florida to New Jersey.
This customer wanted a very specific one.
Autos On The Go recently arranged exactly that for this Model X, moving it north from Florida to New Jersey for $1,675.
And the timing of the shipment made the rate particularly interesting.
While thousands of vehicles make their way south to Florida during snowbird season, this Tesla was going the other way. That put our customer on the favorable side of the supply-and-demand equation: a reverse snowbird move with carriers looking for northbound vehicles.
The result was expedited enclosed transport at a rate that would be difficult to duplicate going the opposite direction at the height of the season.

$1,675 Enclosed & Expedited: Why This Move Priced So Well
Auto transport isn’t priced from a mileage chart.
Two identical Tesla Model X vehicles traveling the exact same distance can cost very different amounts depending on which direction they’re going and when they’re going there.
During snowbird season, Florida is a perfect example.
When demand is heavily southbound, carriers arrive in Florida full. Eventually, those trucks need freight taking them back north.
That imbalance can create opportunities.
Our Florida-to-New Jersey Model X was moving against the heavier seasonal traffic, giving us access to enclosed carrier capacity heading back toward the Northeast.
We secured the shipment for $1,675 total, including expedited service.
That’s not a rate we’d advertise as the standard price to ship every Model X between Florida and New Jersey. The market changes constantly. But it’s a good example of why knowing the lane can matter as much as knowing the mileage.
Sometimes a customer calls at exactly the right time.
The Model X Changes the Trailer Math
A Model X isn’t just another Tesla as far as the carrier is concerned.
It’s heavy.
Depending on configuration, you’re dealing with more than 5,000 pounds of vehicle. On an enclosed transporter carrying several expensive vehicles, that weight becomes part of a larger puzzle.
What else is already on the truck? Where is everything being delivered? How much legal capacity remains? Where can the Model X be positioned?
That’s the part of auto transport customers rarely see.
We don’t need to find a carrier who simply says, “Sure, I transport Teslas.”
We need the equipment and load to make sense for this Tesla.
The same applies at pickup. Vehicle dimensions, trailer clearance, loading angle and the space available around the Model X all matter.
Its falcon-wing doors might be the feature everyone notices in a parking lot.
For transport, we’re much more interested in its weight and dimensions. We transport the Model X alongside other Tesla vehicles including the Model 3, Model Y and Cybertruck.
Expedited Doesn’t Mean Reckless
“Expedited auto transport” can sound like somebody is going to drive your Tesla from Florida to New Jersey at 100 mph.
That’s not what it means.
The expedited part happens primarily before the vehicle gets on the truck.
Instead of placing a shipment into a normal pickup window and waiting for the right carrier to become available, we prioritize the load around the customer’s required schedule.
That can mean paying more to secure the right truck sooner.
For this Model X, the customer wanted both enclosed equipment and expedited pickup, so we had two requirements to satisfy simultaneously. Finding a truck quickly wasn’t enough. It had to be the right truck.
Once loaded, the vehicle travels according to the carrier’s route, required rest periods and other scheduled pickups and deliveries.
Fast matters.
So does getting it right.
What Enclosed Transport Actually Bought This Customer
The Model X could have traveled on an open carrier.
We ship plenty of Teslas that way.
The customer chose enclosed because the goal wasn’t simply getting the vehicle from Point A to Point B as cheaply as possible.
Inside an enclosed trailer, the Model X was protected from the road exposure that comes with spending more than a thousand miles on an open transporter: weather, grime and debris kicked up during highway travel.
For some owners, that premium isn’t necessary.
For others, it’s an easy decision.
That’s particularly true with newer Model X vehicles, Plaid configurations, custom finishes or simply an owner who is meticulous about the condition of the car.
We quote both options when appropriate and let the customer decide where the additional protection is worth the additional cost.
Have a Model X That Needs to Move?
