Car Carriers Can’t Load on Palm Beach Streets — Here’s How We Handle the Pickup

Shipping a car from Palm Beach is a little different than shipping one from almost anywhere else in South Florida.

If you’re expecting a large auto transport truck to pull up on North Ocean Boulevard, South Ocean Boulevard, Worth Avenue or a residential street and load your car, that’s not how it works in the Town of Palm Beach.

The Town states:

The Town of Palm Beach only allows car carriers to load and off-load vehicles on private property.”

The Town also says there are no designated car-carrier loading or unloading locations in the public right-of-way. Palm Beach Police have advised residents to arrange vehicle pickups and deliveries outside the Town.

So how do you ship a car if you live on Palm Beach Island?

That’s what this guide is for.

Shipping a Car From Palm Beach?

Autos On The Go can coordinate the entire pickup — including coming to your Palm Beach residence, inspecting the vehicle and driving it across the bridge to meet the carrier.

Option 1: We Pick Up the Car From Your Palm Beach Home

You don’t necessarily have to drive anywhere.

For customers who want a hands-off experience, Autos On The Go can come directly to your Palm Beach residence before transport.

We inspect and document the vehicle at your home, take possession of it, and drive it off the island to a pre-arranged loading location in West Palm Beach or the surrounding area.

The auto transport carrier meets us, not you.

That means you don’t have to find a place for a 70+ foot transporter, wait around for the truck or navigate carrier arrival times and bridge traffic.

You can stay home. We handle the handoff from Palm Beach Island to the carrier.

For exotic, luxury and collector vehicles, we can also coordinate enclosed transportation and plan the handoff before the truck arrives in Palm Beach County.

Option 2: Meet the Carrier Just Across the Bridge

If you’d rather drive your own vehicle to the carrier, the solution can be surprisingly simple:

Cross the Intracoastal.

We regularly coordinate appropriate mainland loading areas, including certain locations around Flagler Drive when conditions and transport equipment allow.

The best location depends on where you are on Palm Beach Island, the size of the carrier and which direction your vehicle is traveling.

Palm Beach gives us four bridge options.

The Four Bridges Off Palm Beach Island

1. Flagler Memorial Bridge — North Bridge

Best for: North End, Royal Poinciana Way, The Breakers area and northern Palm Beach.

The Flagler Memorial Bridge connects Royal Poinciana Way with downtown West Palm Beach.

Cross the bridge and you’re immediately near North Flagler Drive, making this one of the most convenient routes for coordinating a mainland pickup from northern and central Palm Beach.

Locally, you’ll often hear this called the North Bridge.

2. Royal Park Bridge — Middle Bridge

Best for: Midtown, Worth Avenue, Royal Palm Way and central Palm Beach.

Royal Palm Way crosses the Intracoastal via the Royal Park Bridge and puts you directly into downtown West Palm Beach.

It’s also what many locals mean when they say the Middle Bridge.

For customers around Worth Avenue and Midtown, a suitable mainland handoff can be only minutes away.

3. Southern Boulevard Bridge

Best for: Southern Palm Beach and properties closer to Southern Boulevard.

If you’re farther south on the island, there’s little reason to drive north toward downtown just because that’s where most people picture the bridges.

Southern Boulevard provides another direct connection to the mainland and can make more sense depending on the carrier’s route.

4. Robert A. Harris Memorial Bridge — Lake Worth Bridge

Best for: South End and vehicles being routed south or west.

Yes, there are four ways off the island.

The Robert A. Harris Memorial Bridge — commonly known as the Lake Worth or Lake Avenue Bridge — connects the southern end of Palm Beach Island with Lake Worth Beach.

For South End customers, this can be considerably more practical than driving back toward downtown West Palm Beach.

The best bridge isn’t always the closest bridge. We consider where the carrier is coming from and where it’s headed next.

Option 3: Leave Your Car at Our Downtown West Palm Beach Location

There’s another easy option.

Autos On The Go has a convenient downtown West Palm Beach location, just across the Intracoastal from Palm Beach.

You can leave the vehicle with us and let us handle the carrier from there.

This is particularly useful when carrier timing doesn’t line up perfectly with your schedule. Transport arrival windows can move because of traffic, weather and previous pickups or deliveries. If you’re working with a particularly tight pickup window, we can also coordinate expedited auto transport.

Instead of structuring your day around a truck driver’s ETA, leave the vehicle with us and continue with your day.

We’ll handle the transport handoff.

What Happened to the Phipps Ocean Park Pickup Location?

This is important because there’s outdated information online — including on an older page of the Town’s own website.

Phipps Ocean Park was historically used for car-carrier loading and unloading.

Do not assume your transporter can meet you there today.

Palm Beach Police announced in October 2025 that car carriers are prohibited from loading or unloading on public roadways or rights-of-way within the Town, including Phipps Ocean Park.

During the current Phipps renovation, the Town also addresses the question:

“Will there be alternate car carrier pick-up spots while Phipps is under construction?”

The Town’s answer:

“There will not be alternate car carrier pick-up places on Palm Beach Island during the construction of Phipps Park.”

So if you’re reading an older article telling you to have your transporter meet you at Phipps, don’t send the truck there.

Coordinate the pickup before the carrier arrives.

Can a Carrier Load From Private Property in Palm Beach?

Potentially.

The Town specifically allows car carriers to load and unload on private property.

But legal and practical are two different things.

A full-size multi-car transporter needs considerable room to enter, maneuver, load and leave safely. Many Palm Beach properties simply aren’t designed for commercial equipment of that size.

Even if a property has sufficient private access, the situation should be evaluated before the carrier arrives.

For most residential pickups, coordinating the actual loading on the mainland is easier.

What About Enclosed Transport for Exotic and Collector Cars?

Palm Beach has no shortage of Porsche, Ferrari, Bentley, Rolls-Royce, Aston Martin, McLaren and collector vehicles, and enclosed transportation is often the preferred option.

The Palm Beach loading restrictions still apply.

We’ll coordinate the enclosed carrier’s mainland location ahead of time and arrange the handoff accordingly.

If we’re providing our Palm Beach home pickup service, we can inspect and document the vehicle at your residence and bring it directly to the enclosed carrier.

No giant trailer hunting for your house on Palm Beach Island.

Step-by-Step: Shipping Your Car From Palm Beach

Step 1 — Tell us where the vehicle is located.
Give us your Palm Beach pickup location and destination.

Step 2 — Choose your pickup option.
Drive across the bridge yourself, leave the vehicle at our downtown West Palm Beach location, or have us come to you.

Step 3 — We coordinate the carrier.
We select an appropriate mainland loading location based on your location, carrier equipment, bridge access and direction of travel.

Step 4 — We inspect and document the vehicle.
If we’re picking it up for you, we’ll complete the inspection before taking possession.

Step 5 — We drive it across the bridge.
You stay home. We meet the carrier.

Step 6 — Your vehicle is loaded and transported.

Palm Beach Auto Transport Requires Local Knowledge

Palm Beach isn’t a place where we want a driver figuring things out after arrival.

The Town has specific carrier-loading rules. The island has four mainland connections. Bridge traffic matters. Carrier size matters. And the right meeting point for someone near Royal Poinciana Way isn’t necessarily the right meeting point for someone several miles south on South Ocean Boulevard.

Many of the vehicles we handle here are seasonal moves, including our regular Hamptons to Palm Beach auto transport routes for snowbird residents.

Autos On The Go is based in West Palm Beach and has been coordinating auto transportation since 2008.

For Palm Beach customers, our job isn’t simply finding a truck.

It’s figuring out the easiest way to get your car from your driveway to that truck.

Ship Your Car From Palm Beach Island Without Leaving Home

If you’d rather not drive your vehicle off the island or wait around for a transporter, ask about our Palm Beach Island vehicle pickup service.

We’ll come to your residence, inspect and document the vehicle, drive it across the appropriate bridge and coordinate the handoff with the carrier.

Or, if you’d rather meet the carrier yourself, we’ll coordinate the location and timing.
